Oasis Down to Earth Farm is a community centre with a difference: we are based on a farm in urban Southampton. As a not-for-profit charity, our mission is to provide a socially inclusive, happy experience where people of all abilities and differences are respected and valued. We aim to educate, empower and engage with our local community.
We offer people the opportunity to interact with animals and the natural environment. Based on a 5 acre site our facilities include a barn, dairy, large garden to grow fruit and vegetables, pond, wood workshop and two fully equipped community buildings suitable for a range of indoor activities.
During the week we offer activities for adults with Learning Disabilities, children with special needs (SEN and NEET) and school groups. At the weekend we host children's birthday parties and are open to the general public.
The second charity of the three to be revealed is the amazing Wave 105 Cash For Kids Mission Christmas. Take a look at what it’s all about.
Our Mission Christmas appeal ensures that children living in poverty in the south will receive a gift on Christmas day.
Christmas can be a tough time for families, especially those who are struggling financially. Many families we help are able to keep a roof over the heads of their family, they are able to buy food and clothes but unable to afford luxuries such as Christmas dinner or presents – it is these children that we help, those on the breadline.
These children are not abstract, they do not live on the other side of the world, they live in Portsmouth, Gosport, Fareham, Waterlooville, Havant, and all across the south.
We run this appeal not because it makes us look good, not because we think we should but because it is the right thing to do.
Any donations would be very much appreciated and would mean that we are able to help more children and teenagers.
Every year around 23,000 people within the Wessex region are diagnosed with cancer. A diagnosis can be a shock and have an impact on the whole family.
There are 5 Wessex Cancer Trust Support Centres in our region – Chandlers Ford, Waterside Hythe, Portsmouth, Bournemouth and Isle of Wight. They are safe places for people to receive the support they need. A team of specialist counsellors are on hand to help deal with the emotional impact of cancer and complementary therapies aim to improve wellbeing, help with pain management and increase self-confidence.
